DIFFUSEROOTS

Exhibit Project

DIFFUSEROOTS is committed to showcasing groundbreaking contemporary artists in Southern California, turning empty gallery spaces into ephemeral exhibitions. The first of these shows will be held on Friday, February 4 at the Bell Arts Factory in Ventura, California, and will feature photographic works by Sarah Sinclair, James Dewhirst, Loredana Gaudiuso, Jesse Groves, and special guest artist Ricardo Rodríguez.

About

This is a project that aims to pair temporarily empty retail space with emerging artists looking for opportunities to create exhibition quality art for impromptu exhibitions whenever the opportunity arises. Each exhibition is centered on a broad theme. Artists are given a very short period of time (one to two weeks) to produce a exhibit ready body of work.

This monthly event works to challenge all involved. It challenges the artists to produce work in a very short time, it challenges our curators to create a themed exhibit in a very short time, and it challenges our audience to stay connected with our community to learn locations and dates of our next exhibition. And it challenges the community to open unused space up to innovative art.

Diffuse Roots is a collective of pioneering artists working to find new and innovative ways to promote, distribute, and showcase contemporary fine art in Southern California. We are determined to make cutting-edge art accessible to as wide an audience as possible and to foster dialog between artists and the community.
